Together with our two winners, Niamh and Lisa, we’re now sitting on the roof terrace of the InterConti and are waiting for the meet & greet with Tokio Hotel and first of all want to ask a few questions.

Niamh: Ja. Also, so persönlich und nah… Ja, das erste Mal.
Yes. Like, personally and up and close… Yes, that’s the first time.

Was ist das Besondere an Tokio Hotel?
What’s so special about Tokio Hotel?
Niamh: Also, auf jeden Fall das Aussehen von denen. Also, das Äußerliche, würde ich sagen, macht auf jeden Fall sehr viel aus. Und dann hinzu noch die Musik und dass sie zumal auch schon vorher Musik gemacht haben. Also, von klein auf eigentlich schon auch ’ne Gruppe sind und… Ja, es so was vielleicht in Deutschland noch nicht vorher gab.
Well, definitely their looks. Meaning, a lot is definitely down to the outer appearance, I’d say. And the music adding to that and particularly that they were already making music prior to that. Meaning, [that they] have actually also been a group from an early age and... Yes, that maybe there hasn’t already been anything like it in Germany before.

Beschreibt den Moment als ihr erfahren habt, dass ihr Tokio Hotel jetzt treffen werdet. Also, dass ihr die Gewinner seid. Wie war das für euch in dem Moment?
Describe the moment when you found out that you’re going to meet Tokio Hotel now. Meaning, that you’re the winners. What was it like for you in that moment?
Niamh: Ja also, ich hab’ ja dann die Email bekommen und ich konnt’s erst gar nicht glauben und ich hab’ auch gedacht „Nee, das kann jetzt nicht wahr sein“. Und dann hab’ ich sie direkt angerufen. Und jetzt sind wir tierisch aufgeregt. Auch schon in der Schule, den ganzen Tag gewesen. Auf jeden Fall. Ich glaub’, [es] wird wirklich ’n Tag den man so schnell nicht mehr vergisst.
Well yes, so I received the email and at first I couldn’t believe it at all and I was thinking “Nah, that can’t be true now.“ And then I called her straight away. And now we’re extremely excited. Niamh: Ich bin Niamh. Das ist Lisa. Beide aus Düsseldorf. Erm, Fans seit 2005.

Bill: Also von ganz… von Anfang an.

Niamh: Genau. Also eigentlich, erm dem… So richtig so auch seit dem Comet. Euerm allerersten Comet.
Exactly. Well, actually [since] the, erm… Like [we have] also really [been fans] since the Comet. Your very first Comet.
Lisa: Ja, seit dem Tag, eigentlich genau.
Yes, exactly from that day on, actually.
Georg: Cool.
Bill: Ja, da können wir uns gut dran [erinnern].

Tom: Das war auch ’n witziger Auftritt, fand ich.

Bill: Ja, ich kann mich dran erinnern… Ich glaube das war so die aufregendste Preisverleihung für uns alle, weil es war unsere allererste.
Yes, I can remember it… I think it was like the most exciting award ceremony for all of us because it was our very first one.
Tom: Und wir wurden nachnominiert.
And we were nominated subsequently. (nb after nominations had already been announced)
Bill: Und wir wurden nachnominiert. Das heißt, wir haben… Also, immer wenn ich… wenn wir die Bilder heut’ auch noch so sehen, so in Zusammenschnitten oder so, wenn sie’s dann zeigen… erm, weiß ich, dass wir uns auf jeden Fall so richtig gefreut haben. Also, ich glaub’, das war so der aufregendste Moment für uns als Band. Als wir dann gemerkt haben, „Ok, wir kriegen jetzt zum ersten Mal so ’nen Award und wir mischen da mit, mit den ganzen Leuten.“

Whenever we’re still seeing pictures even today, like in [picture] montages or something like that, when they get shown... erm, [then] I know that we’ve definitely been so very happy. Well, I think that was like the most exciting moment for us as a band. Back then when we realised “Ok, we’re receiving such an award for the first time now and we’re getting to be involved in it, with all those people.”


Lisa: Seid ihr heute noch genauso aufgeregt wie damals?
Are you still as excited nowadays as you were back then?
Tom: Also, gerade weil wir jetzt so viel im Ausland sind, erm, ist es immer für uns jetzt eigentlich… eher, eher nett und entspannt, wenn wir dann irgendwie ’n Termin in Deutschland haben und wir freuen uns eigentlich eher drauf als das wir, erm, tierisch aufgeregt sind.
Well, especially because we’re so much abroad now, erm, it’s actually always rather, rather nice and relaxed for us now when we’ve got something scheduled in Germany and we’re actually more looking forward to it than being, erm, extremely nervous.
Bill: Ich glaub’, vor Konzerten und so sind wir halt super nervös, ne? Also, wenn wir jetzt auf Tour sind. Da sind wir eigentlich jeden Tag aufgeregt.
I think, we’re just super nervous prior to concerts and such things, right? Meaning, when we’re on tour. We’re actually nervous every day then.

Niamh: Erm, war Georg vorher kacken?
Erm, die Georg take a sh*t prior [to concerts]?
Bill: Georg war kacken. Auf jeden Fall. Georg, Georg war kacken vor jedem Konzert. Also, definitiv.

Tom: Ja.

Bill: Also, ich glaub’ in Rom warste sogar vier Mal.

Doesn’t look like it, right? So, they said, we wouldn’t get to Tokio just yet. Even though we’re actually intending [to go]. Meaning, we actually want to [go] as soon as possible. Meaning, hopefully this year. However, if not [this year], then in the beginning of next year.

Wie fühlt man sich denn nach so einem Treffen?

Lisa: Ja also, auf jeden Fall war das sehr aufregend und erm… Ja, man muss das, glaube ich, jetzt erst mal so’n bisschen sacken lassen. Das war…

Niamh: Ja, die waren ganz, ganz nett. So wie man die so auch aus’m Fernsehen kennt, so kamen die auch rüber, fand ich. Und das find’ ich echt gut. Also, hat mir echt gut gefallen. War geil.
