We’re promising a great show in the Arena
Currently the most popular musical attraction, German band, Tokio Hotel will hold a concert in our country 28th March in “Belgrade Arena”. The band will introduce to our audience as a part of a big tour, „Welcome to Humanoid City”, and in the interview for „Blic”, they talk about what they gave up on for becoming world stars, and what musical award they still dream of.
Have you ever been to Belgrade and what do you know about Serbia?
- We’ve never visited Belgrade, but we’ve heard only nice things about it and we expect to have a good time in your city.
Which setlist have you prepared for the concert in Belgrade?
- We’re coming to Belgrade as a part of our big tour „Welcome to Humanoid City” which presents our new album, “Humanoid”, so most of the setlist will be songs from that album.
It is known that the band was named after the capital of Japan, why is that?
- It is actually interesting that we’ve never been to Tokyo, but that is one of our biggest dreams. While changing the name of the band, which was earlier “Devilish”, we liked the sound of the word “Tokyo”. During this tour, we are hoping to visit Tokyo and maybe even hold a concert there.
You have become extremely popular at a very young age, do you think that you’ve missed out something in growing up in contrary to your friends?
- We can live through so many things, like traveling, meeting all of the world’s capitals and loads of other things which our friends surely cannot. Our first single came out when we were 13, our greatest dream came true and all in all we are having so much fun. However, of course we missed out a lot of things, for example, we can’t go out in the street alone anymore and we don’t have privacy, but that is the decision you consciously make when deciding to do this job. This is what we wanted and what we worked for.
You have a very unusual style, do you suggest something to the audience with it?
- The message is simple – be who you are. The four of us in the band are completely different when it comes to styling. The most important thing in all is to express yourself and show who you are, and that is what we want our fans to know.
What is so different in your last album, “Humanoid”, than the previous ones?
- We’ve been through so much and learned so much while this album was in production, since the process was going on in many different cities, and we alone have been in the role of co-producers for the first time. Although it has been a long process, it was great and this album is more electronic, but you can still hear the good old “Tokio Hotel sound”.
What is it in your carer that you are most proud of until now?
- Oh, there is just so many things we are very proud of, so it’s really hard to decide for only one. Though it could be the moment when our first single hit the top of the charts or the concert in Paris which was attended by half million people. As well as, when we won the WMA (VMA) for the best new band in America.
In your opinion, what is responsible for your extraordinary success?
- There is no concrete secret… In fact, we do have the most beautiful guitarist, that’s it (laugh). A lot of it we owe to luck, hard work and talent. We had been so incredibly lucky to break through as a German band.
Do you have any message for your fans in Serbia?
- We’d like to thank all our fans for all the support they’ve given us so far and we can’t wait to meet the audience in Belgrade, we are really looking forward to it and hope to have a good time!
We want the Grammy
You’ve won so many music awards so far, is there any particular award you’d like to add in recent future?
- It’s a bit silly for us to talk about it, since we’ve already won so much, but of course, as all of the bands, we dream of winning the “Grammy”.
